The Hale Kai Restaurant sits just steps from the pool at The Fairmont Orchid, offering ocean views and both outdoor and al fresco dining. The setting is relaxed and casual, and service is attentive. Our server demonstrated good knowledge about celiac disease and cross-contamination and confirmed details with the kitchen when necessary.

The kitchen was accommodating and took care to ensure shared items on the table were safe for a gluten-free diet. The menu is broad, featuring creative twists on familiar dishes so there’s something for everyone.

Dishes we sampled included fresh chips and salsa, vegetable summer rolls with tofu, avocado and chili sauce, macadamia nut hummus with purple sweet potato chips, lobster fried rice, kale and sweet potato tacos, and steak frites.
