Every so often I find a toy that feels like it was made for my boys. That was the case with Motorworks, a line of customizable wooden vehicles from Manhattan Toy. I knew my six-year-old, Lucian, would love the collection, so I was happy to try it when offered a review.

What the Motorworks collection includes
The Motorworks collection offers three trim levels: the Street Series, Speed Series, and Extreme Series. Each model begins with a beautifully finished European beech wood body, then children can personalize the vehicles with interchangeable pieces that snap into place across all series. Separate accessory packs expand play options with decals, side pipes, spoilers, monster wheels, and more.
For our review Lucian chose two vehicles: the FX Tuner Wagon from the Street Series and the FX Fire Chief from the Extreme Series. He surprised me by picking a wagon over a super sporty car, but he was thrilled to customize both.

Accessory packs and customization options
Both of my boys enjoy toys with changeable parts, and Motorworks stands out because accessories are sold separately. Instead of buying whole new sets to get different looks, we can add accessory packs like the Street Drifter to mix and match parts. This flexibility keeps play fresh without extra clutter.

The parts snap on and off easily, so the boys can swap components without struggling. The pieces are durable and the wooden vehicle bodies feel sturdy, which reduces concerns about breakage during active play.

Tri-Level Super Garage play set
One standout in the line is the Tri-Level Super Garage play set. Designed for ages 3 and up, the garage is made of wood with bright orange and blue accents. Assembly took a bit of time, but the instructions were clear and straightforward.

The garage features three levels with ample parking, a working elevator operated by a crank, and removable ramps that rest securely on the structure. The ramps are easy to take out for imaginative play like “accidents” during car chases.

Included are 30 moveable decals that the children enjoy repositioning to simulate gas stations, parking spots, and other activities. The garage works well with Motorworks vehicles but is also compatible with a variety of toy cars, making it a versatile addition to any playroom.

Durability, play value, and final thoughts
The Motorworks vehicles and garage offer strong play value. The wooden construction feels durable, the interchangeable parts encourage creativity, and accessory packs make it easy to refresh the collection without buying whole new toys. My boys enjoy trading parts, customizing looks, and inventing stories around the garage, which keeps them engaged for longer play sessions.
Overall we are very happy with this set and plan to add more accessory packs and vehicles to expand our collection.
Buy it
Vehicles range from roughly $13.99 to $29.99, and accessories such as decals and specialized wheels start around $4.99. The Tri-Level Super Garage is a larger investment—about $100—but it’s a versatile centerpiece for any vehicle collection and worth considering for families who want a long-lasting play set.
