Creamy Raspberry Overnight Oats

Mornings are a breeze when you prep breakfast the night before… Raspberry Overnight Oats are healthy and filling!

Raspberry Overnight Oats

At a recent spinning class, our instructor asked for easy morning breakfast ideas for days she teaches early. The conversation highlighted how varied morning preferences can be: some people grab yogurt or cereal, others prefer a hot plate of eggs with bacon and toast. I offered a couple of my usual quick options—overnight oats and avocado toast—and was amused when someone sitting next to me seemed genuinely surprised that oats can be eaten cold. Overnight oats can feel odd the first time you encounter them, but once you try them, they’re an effortless, nutritious habit.

Raspberry Overnight Oats

Overnight oats became a staple for me during grad school. I needed something filling and healthy that I could prepare before morning workouts and classes. Traditional cooked oatmeal is delicious, but it doesn’t suit days when you’re leaving the house right after a gym session. Preparing oats the night before solved that problem: a jar waiting in the fridge is ready to eat the next morning, and it keeps well for several days. The base is simple and flexible—oats, milk, seeds—and you can top them however you like.

My everyday mix usually includes old-fashioned oats, almond milk, chia seeds, a pinch of cinnamon, and a little salt. In the morning I often swirl in melted honey and peanut butter, then top with banana or frozen berries. It’s filling, balanced, and tastes like a treat without a lot of work. But I wanted to try something different, so I made these Raspberry Overnight Oats, and they were a delightful change.

This recipe keeps the same nourishing base—oats, chia seeds, and almond milk—but I stirred a spoonful of raspberry jam into the mix before refrigerating. In the morning I added a dollop of plain Greek yogurt and a drizzle of honey for creaminess and gentle sweetness, then layered fresh raspberries on top. The result is bright and fruity, with a pleasant texture from the chia and flaxseed. If you like a bit of crunch, a sprinkle of chopped almonds, walnuts, or pecans on top works beautifully and adds extra protein. A thin swirl of almond butter is also a lovely option.

Layering the oats and raspberries gives the jar a parfait-like look, which makes a simple prepared breakfast feel a little indulgent. These raspberry overnight oats are an excellent addition to a weekly rotation, especially in berry season when fruit is at its best. They travel well in a sealed jar, making them ideal for busy mornings, workdays, or a post-gym refuel.

If you enjoy meals that are quick to prepare, satisfying, and adaptable, this raspberry version is worth trying. It takes only minutes to assemble the night before, and in the morning you’ll have a breakfast that feels thoughtful and nourishing without any frantic prep. I find these jars keep me full through a morning workout and straight into a class or work meeting without that mid-morning slump. Once berries are in season again, I’ll be making this regularly.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 ½ cups milk of your choice (vanilla unsweetened almond milk works well)
  • ¼ cup chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
  • 2 tablespoons raspberry jam
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons honey (adjust to taste)
  • Fresh raspberries, for topping
  • Optional: chopped nuts or a drizzle of almond butter for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare two mason jars or airtight containers.
  2. Divide the oats evenly between the jars—about ½ cup oats per jar.
  3. To each jar add ¾ cup of milk, 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed, and 1 tablespoon of raspberry jam.
  4. Stir briefly to combine, then seal the jars and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 6–8 hours).
  5. In the morning, stir in a spoonful of plain Greek yogurt and a tablespoon of honey into each jar for creaminess and sweetness.
  6. Top with fresh raspberries and, if desired, a sprinkle of chopped almonds, walnuts, or pecans, or a drizzle of almond butter.
  7. Serve chilled and enjoy.

These overnight oats are easy to scale and customize. Swap the jam for another fruit spread, switch milk types, or mix in different seeds and nuts to suit your taste and dietary preferences. Preparing several jars at once means you’ll have ready-to-eat breakfasts for several days—ideal for busy weeks, early workouts, or grab-and-go mornings.

Whether you’re new to overnight oats or looking for a fresh variation, the raspberry version offers bright flavor and satisfying texture. Give it a try the next time you need a simple, nourishing breakfast that’s ready when you are.
