Lemon Ginger Honey Tea for Sore Throat Relief and Immunity Boost

This is my go-to drink today. I actually photographed it yesterday when I made this lemon, ginger, and honey tea thinking of the kids and my sister-in-law. My daughter and sister-in-law came down with a cold recently, and then my son and I started feeling sick last night. The kids loved this tea, so whether you’re under the weather or just want a comforting drink, it’s delicious. Every ingredient is soothing and helpful when you’re not feeling well.

I should be brewing a pot right now, but today we’ve got prom pictures to take for my little brother-in-law and his lovely girlfriend later this afternoon. I’m excited, so the tea will wait for now.

Ingredients

  • 2 herbal tea bags
I used lemon echinacea tea; plain lemon or raspberry would also work.
  • Juice of one fresh lemon
  • 2 1/4 inch slices of fresh ginger
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
plus more to taste; raw local honey is preferred. Do not give honey to babies under one year.
  • 4 – 4 1/2 cups water

Instructions

  • In a teapot or small saucepan, combine the lemon juice and ginger. Bring the water to a boil, pour it over the mixture, and add the tea bags. Steep according to the tea package instructions, then remove the tea bags. Stir in the honey and leave the ginger in the pot for about 10 minutes to infuse. Serve hot. If you plan to add the whole squeezed lemon to the pot, use an organic lemon or wash it thoroughly first. For babies older than one year, let the tea cool enough before serving; do not give honey to infants under one year.
